Dawna Joy Reed

St. George, UT - Dawna Joy Reed, 84, passed away on December 7, 2010 in St. George.
She was born on June 30, 1926 in Leadore, Idaho to Arnold Elton Peterson and Florence Loretta Stewart. She had four brothers: James A. Peterson (Donna), Arnold E. Peterson, Vreeland S. Peterson (Eileen) and Dale L. Peterson (Afton) of Saratoga, California.
At three months old, she and her family moved to Circleville, Utah. She was raised, and continued to be throughout her life a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
She graduated from Piute High School in 1944. In 1945 she went to visit an aunt and some cousins in Burbank, California, where she met and fell in love with her future husband, Elvin Reed. They were married in Las Vegas, Nevada on October 6, 1945.
This year they celebrated 65 years of a wonderful, loving marriage. They had two daughters, Alease Stronberg (Carl) and Ellie Pippert (Mark), both residents of Southern California. Dawna’s pride and joy were her twin grandchildren, Brittney Nelson (Clyde) and Brandon Pippert. She worked as a grocery store clerk and book keeper for 30 years in Burbank, California. She and her husband retired to St. George, Utah in 1987.
Dawna enjoyed anything to do with her twin grandchildren, her beloved cat Dixie , going to lunch with “the girls”, visiting teaching, attending Silver Bells, and watching the Jazz.
Funeral services will be Friday, December 10, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Bloomington Hills 2nd Ward Chapel, 750 E. Fort Pierce Dr., St. George, UT.
A visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to services at the chapel.
Interment will be in the Circleville Cemetery on Saturday, December 11, 2010 at 1 p.m.
